Workplace Project

Alliance for Justice

Through the Alliance for Justice we look to change the balance of power between unscrupulous employers and the workers they employ to improve the quality of life in our community.

Using our organizing model, a model that has inspired other worker centers around the country, workers receive education about their basic labor rights, health and safety, discrimination and sexual harassment.  They are also given organizing experience by directly participating in problem solving and the skills necessary for involving other workers.

This Alliance is made up of the Workers Committees of different industries in which we focus our actions and campaigns.  On Long Island, the industries that report the most cases of abuse are Construction, Restaurants, Car Washes and Manufacturing.
